I have showcased many different subjects and themes in my sketchbook throughout this year. Some of the most prominent features in my sketches were:
Subject: Animals and portraits have been pretty large subjects within my sketchbook throughout this year.
Content: I have had many sketches that focus around humans and I have drawn them in many different styles and emotions. I have also had a few sketches that are unrealistic, such as a tree growing out of a ladle or a dog with unrealistic facial features.
Medium: In the sketchbook, I have mostly only used graphite, and I think that this is something that I would like to work more with. Also, the glass blowing workshops have been very interesting, and I like working with that, but that will be harder to work with in the future.
Form/Process: I like working with graphite because I feel like I can have the most consistent and steady improvement with it, and I really like to see that. I also liked working on my wire sculpture, and with more experience, I think working with that type of medium could create something very cool.
Enjoyment: I would say that the wire sculpture I created, as well as some of the portraits I drew in my sketchbook (although those were quick and not large projects) were the things that I enjoyed the most and kept me the most engaged.
Critique: I think that about half of my portraits were successful, but a few definitely came out as something that I did not love. I liked the drawing of the guy holding the dog that I made. Something about the intentionally unrealistic dog made me really like the drawing. I did not love a lot of my spotlight copies. I felt that some of them did not properly capture the original piece.
