I think that the lecture that was given by Lilly may at lunch was very interesting in many ways. We talked about the journey that Lilly took finding a career path, and we also talked about the specific aspects of a career in the arts, more specifically as a freelance illustrator. I thought that Lilly's passion for storytelling within art was quite interesting. It was very cool to learn how art must be adapted to fit the story, or vice versa.
We also went through the process of working with clients. We talked about how it is a unique process dealing with each and every client that you work with. Lilly emphasized how staying organized and keeping a schedule when working in the art world professionally is very important. The process of developing work for a client for Lilly is to brainstorm/sketch, write the script draw thumbnails, apply and test colors, and finally develop the final work in pencil, ink, and color.
The last things that we talked about were the importance of keeping yourself healthy and happy, and the different methods for gaining followers, such as on social media, that could potentially become clients. We talked about the importance of using social media the correct way by using proper hashtags and posting at the right times of day to gain followers more efficiently. Overall, I think that the talk that Lilly gave was very interesting and gave me more insight into what professional life is like in the art world.
