Figure Drawing Reflection

Throughout these two weeks of figure drawing with Tommy Van Auken, I feel that I have grown in many different areas. I think that there is clear development between my first drawings and my last few. In my first two pictures, the figures seem awkward and are not as dynamic as the poses were when they were in person. The third drawing was my first contour, and it is one of my favorites. I think that my contours started at a level much higher than my gestures. I was able to draw very slowly and accurately. With contours, it is much easier for me to establish my proportions. I need to work much more on my proportions regarding my gesture drawings. Even in the later ones, they are pretty inaccurate. I also need to start with a lighter mark at the beginning of my gesture drawings. I do think that the fourth photo is my best example of a dynamic gesture and it captures the motion of the figure very well. If I am able to improve my gesture proportions in the future, as well as lighten my marks, I think that I will improve greatly with my figure drawings.
