Eric Aho was born in Melrose, Massachusetts in 1966. He later moved to New Hampshire in 1974. He has studied and furthered his art in many different universities, including the Central School of Art and Design, the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and the Lahti Art Institute. After that, he dove into furthering his work, and he also taught painting at the Putney School in Putney, Vermont. His work focuses abstractly on the balance between fragility and power within nature.
I particularly enjoyed this exhibition from the DC Moore Gallery. I think that his use of color is extremely intriguing. Many of his paintings have a fairly limited color scheme, but they still manage to feel very diverse and are not dull in any areas. I will try and organize colors more effectively with my work in the future.
I also think that the sense of depth the Aho can create with his paintings is very impressive. Each piece feels full and varied in layers, which is something that I want to work more on within my own work. Overall, really enjoy Eric Aho's paintings. I think that there are many aspects of his work that I can take and apply to my own pieces in the future.
